The realization of research activities with humans, both clinical and fundamental, requires a rigorous regulatory framework to promote and comply with good research practices. The CIUSSS research regulatory framework in West Island of Montreal consists of regulations, policies, standard operating procedures, guidelines and procedures to establish standards that contribute to research excellence. These documents all comply with the frameworks of reference dictated by laws, governments, granting agencies, McGill University, and strategic partners. 

Anyone conducting research activities within the CIUSSS d’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal must register in accordance with its entire regulatory framework. The researcher responsible for a research project also has the obligation to enforce it with his staff and students. The rules of the framework are presented on this website, through three components depending on whether they apply to researchers, projects or research information and data. Regulations applicable to researchers and their teams

This regulation brings together all the measures put in place to ensure that researchers and their teams have the skills required to carry out ethical and quality research in accordance with the highest standards of scientific integrity and responsible conduct. It covers all issues related to conflict of interest and obtaining research privilege.

The regulations applicable to research projects

These regulations bring together all the measures of the triple evaluation dictated by the ministerial reference framework and developed to ensure that the research carried out within the CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal (ODIM) 1) is scientifically valid and relevant, 2) is ethical in all respects and respects the dignity, protection and rights of participants; and 3) is subject to assessments of the operational, financial, contractual, risk, and feasibility aspects that the CIUSSS ODIM needs to determine its interest and capacity to participate in the research project. A project can only start once these three evaluations have been completed and positive. The supervision continues following the authorization of projects through the application of other rules ensuring the compliance of practices during the realization of research projects.
