For the realization of their research projects, researchers and their teams sometimes have to use certain services under the CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal under the laws and frameworks of reference. Other services may be optional and offered only for the purpose of assisting researchers with specific tasks. Each of these services is the responsibility of clinical or non-clinical directorates or research centres and have their own application processing processes. The use of some of these services must be mentioned in the project submission form because the ability to offer them must be assessed and may affect the project authorization.
Research and Regulatory Affairs Support Unit (RRASU)

The USER is in support of key research actors and ensures the application of the regulatory framework, but it also has the mandate to support researchers in their efforts to comply with their obligations and to obtain all the necessary authorizations for the implementation of their projects. Once a project is started, the USER no longer intervenes outside its obligations to follow up on the project and to intervene when activities derogate from the regulatory framework or the conditions established by the regulatory bodies. However, the USER remains receptive to all requests for assistance in carrying out the project (writing the protocol, seeking funding, preparing the statistical analysis plan, etc.) insofar as it can find resources within the CAAD or elsewhere to support the applicant.
The USER provides its service mainly through Nagano, an electronic platform equipped with the CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal in January 2022 for the submission and monitoring of research projects. This platform has various operational modules allowing the management of the ethical evaluations of the projects and their authorizations. Nagano is used through almost the entire health network which has the advantage of facilitating the management of multi-centre projects through the synchronization of files.
To all requests for USER services are described on this website and are mostly made via Nagano.

Medical Archives
The medical archives may transmit the information contained in the records of users if they have consented to it or if the DMSP has authorized access to it. The terms of access must comply with the conditions dictated in the consent forms or in the letter of authorization to access personal information. Access is only possible once the project is authorized by the CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal.
Perfocentre - Performance service and statistics
Responsable : Dre Kim Tardif, Chief Performance and Statistics Officer
The Perfocentre, under the Directorate of Quality, Evaluation, Performance and Ethics, is the business intelligence centre of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. It manages the data warehouses of clinical-administrative information systems. He is responsible for the exploitation of this data collected in software during the patient care journey within the CIUSSS. The available data are grouped under various themes: emergency, hospitalization, accommodation, etc. Under the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, access to specific data may require authorization from the DMSP if information allows the identification of users or if it is personal health information. Please note that there is no charge for this service.
Applications to Perfocentre as part of a research project are made within the submission form (F11) in Nagano or by writing to recherche.comtl@ssss.gouv.qc.ca if the application is made after the project is authorized.
Any other requests for data availability or feasibility analysis must be submitted via an application form on the
portail de Suivi de la performance COMTL : Identification with the login information to COMTL account.

Department of pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department is solely responsible for the control of medicines (warehousing, preparation, validation, delivery, destruction, etc.). Under Standard 8 of the Departmental Framework, research drugs are subject to the same types of control as those provided for prescription drugs in the SSSA. The involvement of the pharmacy department is therefore mandatory for any research where a drug, whether experimental or not, is part of the protocol.

Optilab Service Cluster

The Montréal-MUHC Optilab service cluster is in charge of the operation of laboratory activities (human, financial and equipment) for the CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal. Since this service is not under the control of our institution, it is the responsibility of researchers to take steps with Optilab in order to obtain laboratory analysis services if they wish.
To get the service, you need to contact Yann Chong at yann.chong@muhc.mcgill.ca (Customer service for clinical trials, OPTILAB CUSM, MUHC, Glen site, E04-1645) and place clinicallaboratoryresearchinquiries@muhc.mcgill.ca in c.c. Optilab will generate a code specific for the application in order to fill out the online form.
Terms of service and costs will be discussed if there are any.
When Optilab has agreed to provide the service, you must upload the signed form in Nagano under the ‘Files’ section and we notify by email.
Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Service (TC-Inno)

The mandate of the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Service (TC-INNO) is to provide support and support in knowledge transfer and innovation management to all stakeholders of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’île-de-Montréal with a need for the dissemination, adoption, use or application of recent knowledge from research, cutting-edge practices or experiential knowledge. To do this, the implementation of appropriate mechanisms makes it possible to mobilize this knowledge and develop responses adapted to the needs of the user communities, in collaboration with all the actors such as researchers, practitioners, users, managers, partners and decision-makers, for the benefit of the population. Its service offering includes: 1) Supporting clinical and research teams in the implementation of their projects in knowledge transfer and innovation; 2) Promoting the dissemination of knowledge and experiential knowledge in adapted format, in order to raise awareness and inform the population as well as health professionals: 3) Promote the improvement of health care and services in general by supporting the dissemination of best clinical practices supported by research and science.

The Douglas Research Center has high-level infrastructure and platforms that offer state-of-the-art tools from molecular and cellular microscopy to brain imaging. Support services for various services are also available to researchers related to the Douglas CR.

CARC is a service for blood tests, electrocardiograms and various types of physiological assessments, which is available to RC Douglas researchers to help them develop knowledge related to the mechanisms, diagnoses and treatments of mental illnesses, particularly in clinical trials.
The request for this service as part of a research project is made within the submission form (F11), in the Nagano platform.
If you are planning to use the CARC after your project has been authorized, you will need to apply to the REB and complete and submit to recherche.comtl@ssss.gouv.qc.ca the CARC form (coming soon).

The Research Support Cluster (RSH) provides comprehensive support to clinicians, researchers and trainees at the St. John's Hospital. Mary at every stage of their projects, from design to completion. By providing a range of pre- and post-secruption scientific consultations and support for knowledge translation, the HHR aims to streamline research processes and allow CHSM researchers to focus on the essence of their work.
