The process depends on the affiliation of the person concerned. Allegations involving any person affiliated with McGill University are handled by the University’s Research Integrity Officer. Allegations involving employees of the CIUSSS West‑Island‑of‑Montreal are handled by the institution’s Person Responsible for Responsible Conduct in Research (PCCR).    Upon receiving an allegation, the PCCR ensures the confidentiality of all sensitive information, including the identity of all individuals involved.

   Any person who is the subject of an allegation receives a notice within five business days following receipt of the allegation by the PCCR. The admissibility of the allegation is determined within 30 days. After this, a committee reviews the complaint and issues a decision within 60 days.

   Each allegation is recorded in an anonymized institutional registry.

   Funding agencies supporting a person targeted by an admissible allegation are notified in accordance with their own policies.

   Sanctions are determined jointly with the Research Centres (CR) and may vary depending on several factors, up to and including suspension of researcher status, suspension of research privileges and suspension of funding.
